TUTORIALS

The DeFelsko PosiTest LPD Complete Kit is a low-voltage pinhole detector designed to verify the integrity of non-conductive coatings applied over conductive substrates such as metal and concrete.

The test uses a moistened, electrically energized sponge that is moved across the coating. When the sponge encounters a pinhole, pore, crack or other discontinuity that provides an electrical path to the substrate, the circuit is completed and the instrument provides audible and visual alerts.

The Complete Kit expands inspection capabilities with multiple sponge configurations, extension accessories, additional cables and wetting agent, making it suitable for flat surfaces, large areas, internal surfaces and difficult-to-reach locations.

FUNCTION DETAILS

Pinhole and Discontinuity Detection
Detects pinholes, pores, cracks, thin spots and other defects that may compromise the continuity of a protective coating.

Low-Voltage Wet Sponge Method
Uses a moistened, energized sponge to locate conductive paths through defects in the coating.

Four Test Configurations
Provides 9 V / 90 kΩ, 67.5 V / 80 kΩ, 67.5 V / 90 kΩ and 90 V / 400 kΩ configurations for compatibility with different inspection procedures and standards.

GroundSense™
Visibly confirms that the instrument is properly grounded, helping prevent incorrect results caused by loss of ground connection.

Multiple Sponge Configurations
The Complete Kit includes hardware for flat rectangular, roller and internal-diameter sponge configurations, plus an additional sponge sheet for custom applications.
