The DeFelsko PosiTest LPD Basic Kit is a low-voltage pinhole detector designed to verify the integrity of non-conductive coatings applied over conductive substrates such as metal and concrete.

The test uses a moistened, electrically energized sponge that is moved across the coating. When the sponge encounters a pinhole, holiday, crack or other discontinuity that provides an electrical path to the substrate, the circuit is completed and the instrument provides audible and visual alerts.

The PosiTest LPD is suitable for coatings up to 500 µm (20 mils) thick and provides four test configurations for compatibility with different inspection procedures and standards.

  • Function Details

    FUNCTION DETAILS

    Pinhole and Holiday Detection
Detects pinholes, holidays, cracks and other discontinuities that may compromise the protection provided by the coating.

    Low-Voltage Wet Sponge Method
Uses a moistened sponge electrode to locate conductive paths through defects in the coating.

    Four Test Configurations
    Provides 9 V / 90 kΩ, 67.5 V / 80 kΩ, 67.5 V / 90 kΩ and 90 V / 400 kΩ configurations for compatibility with a variety of inspection procedures.

    GroundSense™
Visibly confirms that the instrument is properly grounded, helping prevent undetected defects caused by loss of the ground connection.

    Audible and Visual Alerts
Alerts the operator when a discontinuity is detected, making it easier to identify areas requiring further evaluation or repair.

    Rugged Construction
Features a rugged, environmentally sealed enclosure that is weatherproof, dustproof and shockproof, meeting or exceeding IP65.
