To perform a measurement, place the gauge perpendicular to the freshly applied coating and press it gently until the outer teeth contact the substrate. Remove the gauge and observe which teeth have been wetted by the coating.
Wet film thickness is determined between the highest wetted tooth and the lowest dry tooth, allowing coating application to be monitored before drying or curing.
