DeFelsko PosiTest HHD | High Voltage Holiday Detector

TUTORIALS

The DeFelsko PosiTest HHD is a high-voltage Holiday Detector designed to locate holidays, pinholes, pores, cracks and other discontinuities in non-conductive coatings applied over conductive substrates such as metal and concrete.

The instrument uses pulsed DC technology with an adjustable voltage range from 0.5 to 35 kV. To perform a test, connect the ground cable to the substrate, select the appropriate test voltage according to the coating and inspection procedure, install the appropriate electrode and move it uniformly across the coated surface.

The PosiTest HHD features an integrated voltage calculator that allows the user to select from international standards and enter the coating thickness to automatically determine the required test voltage.

FUNCTION DETAILS

0.5 to 35 kV Range
Allows the test voltage to be adjusted according to coating thickness, coating characteristics and the applicable inspection procedure.

Pulsed DC Output
Uses high-voltage DC pulses to detect electrical paths through defects and discontinuities in protective coating systems.

Integrated Voltage Calculator
Allows selection from 11 international standards and entry of the coating thickness to assist in determining the appropriate test voltage.

Built-In Voltmeter
Features a certified internal voltmeter that measures and regulates the voltage applied at the electrode during inspection.

Audible and Visual Detection
Provides audible and visual alarms when a holiday or discontinuity is detected, making defects easier to locate.

Safety Trigger
The press-and-hold safety trigger helps prevent accidental generation of high voltage during handling.
